Safety & Trust
How we keep the hive safe
TeenHireHive connects teens with real people in their own neighbourhoods, so safety comes before everything else. Here's what we do, and what we ask of everyone who uses the site.
Every card and task is read by a person
Nothing goes up until we've read it and said yes. For tasks we check that the work suits a teen's age, that it says where it is and who will be there, and that the pay is fair. We don't run police or background checks, so the habits below still matter. We can take anything down at any time.
Parents are always included
For teens under 18, a parent or guardian is copied on every match and every message.
Private messaging
Messages are passed along by us. Teens and clients never see each other's email address.
Very little is public
Teen cards show initials, age range, neighbourhood and skills. No photos, schools, addresses or phone numbers.
Only safe, age appropriate work
We turn down anything unsafe, unpaid when it should be paid, or not right for a teen's age.
You're in control
Teens can change or remove their card any time, and anyone can ask us to delete their information.
Good habits for everyone
For teens
- Tell a parent or guardian where you're going, who it's for and when you'll be back
- Keep chats in TeenHireHive messages until a parent has said yes
- Never share your address, school, banking details or passwords in a message
- A real job never asks you to pay first, buy gift cards or keep secrets
- If something feels off, leave and tell an adult. You never need a reason
For parents and guardians
- You're copied on every message, so read along and ask questions
- Meet the client or check the business first if you're unsure
- Agree on pay, times and pickup before the first job
- For home jobs, it's fine to ask that an adult be home
- Tell us right away if anything worries you
For families and businesses
- Describe the task honestly, including where it is and who will be there
- Pay what you offered, on time, and include any travel or supplies
- Keep all contact through TeenHireHive and the teen's parent
- No unsafe tools, heights, driving or late night work
- Respect the teen's school, curfew and the right to say no
A fair pay guide
Ontario's minimum wage went up on October 1, 2026. Small neighbourhood tasks aren't always covered by employment law, but we ask clients to treat these rates as a fair starting point.
The student rate only applies to students under 18 who work 28 hours a week or less while school is in session, or who work during school breaks or summer holidays. Read the official rules in Ontario's minimum wage guide.
Report a concern
Something didn't feel right, a message was inappropriate, or a task wasn't what it said? Tell us. We read every report, keep it private, and can block a conversation or remove a card or task right away.

Privacy
A short, plain account of what we collect and what happens to it. Questions go to teenhirehive@gmail.com.
What we collect
From teens: name, age range, neighbourhood, skills, the times you're free and your email. For anyone under 18, a parent or guardian's email too. From clients: name, email, the task details and the general area. We also keep the messages we pass along and the ratings left after a job.
Where it's kept
Our sign up and task forms are Google Forms. Answers go into a Google Sheet in the private TeenHireHive Google account, and our emails go out from teenhirehive@gmail.com. Google stores this data under its own privacy terms, and it may be stored outside Canada.
Who can see it
Only the TeenHireHive admin can open the full records. The public site shows a teen's initials, age range, neighbourhood and skills, and a task's title, area, pay and timing. Never emails, phone numbers, addresses, schools or photos.
How long we keep it
Filled or expired tasks come off the site right away. Teen cards with no activity for 12 months are removed along with their details, and message records are kept for 12 months in case a safety concern needs looking into.
Your choices
Teens can change or remove their card with the Update form. We confirm each change with a link sent to the email on file, so nobody else can edit your card. Anyone can ask to see, correct or delete their information by email, and we reply within 30 days. Every task alert email has a link to stop them.
Cookies
The site runs on Webador, which uses the cookies it needs to work and to count visits. We don't run ads, and we never use or sell your information for advertising.
